Reliance Energy Generation Ltd to set up 1320 MW additional coal project at Dehra in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The proposal is for setting up of a 1320 MW coal based thermal power project within the existing premises of the proposed 7480 MW gas based combined cycle power project at village Dehra, District Gaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The proposed unit size would either be 2x660 MW or 4x330 MW. The unit size will be decided based on the stack height clearance to be obtained. The land requirement is estimated as 424 acres for the power plant. Some of the common facilities will be shared with the gas based combined cycle power plant. In addition an area of 80 acres is required for rail corridor. Water requirement is estimated as 4500 m3/hr (44 cusecs) to be obtained from upper Ganga Canal. Imported coal will be used as fuel. The sulphur content in coal will vary between 0.5 1.0%. The coal requirement is estimated as 5.5 million TPA.
