NTPC to set up 2 x660 MW Tanda thermal power project stage II at Tanda town in Ambedkar Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh. The project will be based on super critical technology. Coal will be used as fuel, which will be obtained from North Karanpura and will be transported by rail. The existing railway siding will be used for bringing equipment and materials, however, an additional 1 km length of railway line will be laid from the siding to the main power house. It is estimated that 825 acres of additional land would be required, which include 650 acres of land for ash dyke. Water requirement will be met from Saryu river. Necessary commitment from the State Government for requisite quantity of water for the project is yet to be obtained.
