NTPC to set up 500 MW Vallur Thermal Power Project Stage-I, Phase-II at Thiruvallur in Tamil Nadu. The Stage-I, Phase-I project of 2x500 MW has already been accorded all clearances. The proposed project will be located within the existing land of phase-I. No additional land is required for the plant, however, 125 acres additional land for ash pond and 15 acres for ash pipeline corridor will be required. Seawater will be drawn from the intake channel of North Chennai Thermal Power Plant. Fresh water requirement will be met from desalination plant. Closed cycle re-circulating type cooling water system will be adopted.
