Tamilnadu Petroproducts Ltd to set up 43 MW captive power plant at Manali near Chennai. The land requirement is 18 acres in the land owned by TPL. Imported coal requirement is around 624 TPD. The chimney height of 60 m is proposed. Water requirement will be met from the existing allocation. The fresh water requirement is 164 kld. Air cooled condensers to be provided. 100% utilization of fly ash is proposed. Greenbelt will be developed in an area of 6.3 acres.

Neyveli Lignite Corp to set up 2 x 800 MW thermal project at Udayarpalayam in Perambalur district of Tamil Nadu. The project forms part of Jayamkondam thermal project expansion stage I. The land requirement for stage-I is 580 ha and the total land requirement for phase-I and phase-II is 935 ha. Lignite will be obtained from the adjoining captive mines. Water requirement is estimated as 7200 m3/hr, which will be obtained from groundwater by depressurizing of mine. Shortfall if any, will be supplemented by Colleron river water.

Patel PEL Power Ltd to set up 1000 MW thermal project at Akurumutu in Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu. Land required for the project is around 421 acres and imported coal to be used as fuel. It is proposed to be transported through sea route. Sweet water requirement is to be met by desalination.
