A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services is setting up a 15 MW biomass project in Fazilka in Ferozepur district of Punjab. The project involves setting up of one biomass fired CFBC boiler, extraction cum condensing type steam turbine, electric generator and power evacuation systems. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 813 million. The boiler will intake paddy straw, bagasse or subabul. The project is likely to go operational in June 2012

PSEB plans 1000 MW gas based thermal project in Roopnagar

Punjab State Electricity Board is planning to set up a 1000 MW gas based thermal project in Ropar in Roopnagar district of Punjab with an investment of Rs. 45,000 million. Fuel supply agreement was signed in February 2010. Gas requirement for the project is estimated at 4.80 mmscmd and gas will be supplied through Dadri-Bawana pipeline of GAIL. The project is likely to go operational in March 2014.
