KVK Nilachal Power to set up 3x350 MW of 4x350 MW Coal based Thermal Power Project in Kandarei

KVK Nilachal Power to set up 3x350 MW  of 4x350 MW Coal based Thermal Power Project in Kandarei in Athagarh Tehsil in Cuttack district of Orissa. The total land requirement is 938 acres. Water requirement is 4600 m3/hr, which will be obtained from river Mahanadi.  Induced draft cooling towers with COC of 5 will be adopted. Two bi-flue stacks of 275 m height will be installed. The coal to be used will have maximum sulphur content of 0.5% and ash content of 45%. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 63000 million.

Shyam DRI is setting up 15 MW thermal project at its steel complex in Sambalpur district of Orissa

Shyram DRI is setting up an integrated steel complex in village Pandloi and Nishanbanga (PO Lapanga/Rengali) in Sambalpur district of Orissa. In phase II of the project, the company plans to set up a 15 MW power generation unit from waste heat recovered from kilns. It will also install 3 DRI kilns with a capacity of 100 tpd with pre-heating kiln and a 8 MW power generating unit from waste heat.

Orissa likely to get 2 more UMPP

Power Finance Corp and CEA are likely to short-list 5 possible locations in Orissa to set up 2 more Ultra Mega Power Plant each with a capacity of 4000 MW. The short-listed locations are Dhamara (Bhadrak district), Paradip (Jagatsinghpur district), Astharanga (Puri district) and Ganja in Ganjam district. These locations are considered as sea-water will be used in these projects. As of now, Orissa is likely to get 3 UMPP and may get 50% of power produced from the planned 2 UMPPs and 32.5% of power from Sundergarh UMPP which is likely to be commissioned by 2013.
