Mahagenco is setting up unit 8&9 coal based thermal projects of capacity 2x500 MW in Chandrapur in Maharashtra. BHEL has been awarded the main plant package, while balance of plant has been awarded to BGR Energy Systems Ltd.
The latest major milestones achieved on the project are : ‘Boiler Drum lifting’ of Unit 8 which is achieved on 29.03.11 and ‘Boiler Erection’ of Unit-9 which is achieved on 05.01.11. Further works on the project are in progress. Full load operation of Unit 8 is envisaged by end Nov. 2012 and that of Unit 9 by mid April 2013. To this extent, the commissioning (COD) of Unit 8 is expected by January 2013 followed by Unit 9 by June 2013.
S M Infra Power Pvt Ltd is planning to set up a 1320 MW coal based thermal power plant in Deni-Tirkhura village in Umrer Taluk in Nagpur district of Maharashtra. Land requirement for the project is 925 acres - out of which is 740 acres of single crop agricultural land and 185 acres is wasteland. Coal requirement for the project is around 5.68 mtpa, which is likely to be obtained by CIL. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 85800 million.
Vaidyanath Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd is setting up a 21 MW Bagasse Based Co-Generation Project at village Pangari, in Tehsil Parali, in District Beed in Maharashtra. Land requirement for the plant will be 5.0 Acres, which is within the Sugar factory. Bagasse and Bio-Gas only will be used as fuel. No coal will be used. Bagasse requirements will be 214,424 MTPA. Water requirement will be 1.015 M3/ day.
