JSW Energy (Ratnagiri) to set up 4x300 MW Thermal Power Plant at Jaigad in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. The land requirement for the project is 350 ha 11000 TPD of imported coal with sulphur content of 0.6% and ash content of upto 12% will be used. Sea water will be used for cooling system. Water will be drawn by pipeline. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 45000 million. Company is planning to expand the Ratnagiri Project with a 4 X 800 MW power plant. The added capacity will be using the super critical technology by which it will achieve lower operating costs due to better efficiencies and lower carbon emissions compared to sub-critical technology. The estimated project cost is Rs. 150,006.80 million and company is planning to finance the project with a debt equity ratio of approximately 75:25.

The company had commissioned its first unit of 300 MW in September 2010 and received a plant load factor of 100% and it plans to make the other 3 units operational by end of this fiscal 2010-11
