Essar Power to set up Mahan Super Thermal Power Project (4x500 MW) at Singrauli in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh. Coal for this project will be obtained from Mahan Coal Block at a distance of about 3-4 km through conveyor. The coal will have an ash content of 35% and sulphur content of 0.5%. It is estimated that 192000 m3/day of water will be required for consumption and will be sourced from Govind Ballabh Pant Reservoir. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 88000 million. It may be noted, Mohan Ban reserve forest is at distance of 4 km from the project site.
Essar Power MP is proposing to add a 600 MW unit to the Essar Power MP-Mahan project that is under construction. The power project will occupy land already allotted to the Essar Power MP-Mahan expansion project.
Pratibha Syntex to set up 6 MW Gas based Captive Power Plant at Pithampur in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. Land requirement for the project is 5432sq m which is already available. The RLNG requirement for the project is 10 lakh SCM/month which will be obtained from GAIL. Water requirement for the proposed unit will be 1050m3/day and will be supplied by MPAKVN, a Govt. of M.P. undertaking. The existing 4 MW HFO based engine will be kept as stand by unit. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 180 million.
M.P. Power Generating to set up 2x600 MW of 4x600 MW Malwa Thermal Power Project at Purni in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh. The land requirement for the project is 2600 acres. Water requirement is 7410 m3/hr, which will be obtained from Indira Sagar Dam on Narmada river. The coal requirement is 13.35 million TPA, however, coal linkage has been obtained only for 4.62 million TPA, which will meet the requirement only for two units. So, the company is proceeding only with stage I of the project. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 40530 million. It may be noted, Omkareshwar national Park and Mandhata Sanctuary is reported at a distance of 17 Km and 22 Km respectively from the proposed project site.
