M P Power Generating Co to set up 660 MW thermal plant in Sarni

M P Power Generating Co Ltd is planning to set up 1 x 660 MW coal based thermal power project in Sarni in Ghoradongri Tehsil in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh. The existing and old units of 5x62.5 MW are to be dismantled and the land is to be used to construct the 660 MW power plant. Coal linkage is applied and water requirment is to be met from Sarni reservoir which is maintained by MPPGCL.

Adani Pench Power to set up 1320 Chaunsara thermal project

Adani Pench Power Ltd, a subsidiary of Adani Power is to set up 1320 Chaunsara thermal project in village Chaunsara in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh. The project involves setting up of 2x660 MW unit with super critical technology. The company had invited bids from contractors under international competitive bidding in March 2010. The state government will provide infrastructure and land required for the project. The Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board (MPSEB) is expected to transfer about 300 hectares of land to Adani Power. The Pench River has been identified as the water source for the power plant. Adani Power will sell 10% of the net power generated at Chhindwara to the state government at a variable cost. The state government will have the first right of purchase for up to 40% of the total electricity generated by the power plant for 20 years. Land and Water requirement had been reserved for the project. Application for coal linkage has been made. The project is expected to go operational by FY 2015.

Bansagar Thermal Power Corp plans 1600 MW coal based project

Bansagar Thermal Power Corp (of MP Power Trading Co) is planning to set up 2x800 MW coal based thermal power project in Tikuratola in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh. The company has invited tenders in August 2011 for appointing consultant to carry out the project. In April 2011, the state cabinet had in July decided to reserve Morega-1 coal block and funds at the rate of 14 per cent for acquiring land for the project. Water requirement is likely to be met from Bansagar dam.
