The project is awaiting coal linkage, which is proving as a bottleneck after which environment clearance will be obtained. In the meanwhile it has completed all formalities for awarding work to BHEL for BTG package.
Karnataka Power Corporation to set up 1x500 MW Bellary Thermal Power Station (Expansion Unit 2) in Stage-II at Kuduthini in Bellary district of Karnataka. The total land requirement for both the units is 741 ha, which is already available. No additional land will be acquired. Water requirement is estimated as 1638 m3/hr, which will be met from Maralihalla nallah for about 8 ? 10 months. Water reservoir in an area of 74 ha is also proposed. Coal requirement is estimated as 2.24 million TPA, which will be obtained from Mahanadi Collieries. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 19610 million. It may be noted, Daroji bear sanctuary is located 10 kms away from the proposed site.
