Patil Sugars Ltd is planning to set up a 25 MW cogeneration power plant in Nimbal block in Indi Taluk in Bijapur district of Karnataka. The sugar mill will consume 6 MW, the balance will be sold to grid. Bagasse will be used as fuel which will be procured from the sugar mill.
Bhoruka Power Corp is setting up a 300 MW coal based power project in Chikodi Belgaum in Karnataka. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 15000 million. JSW Energy is planning to expand its existing Toranagallu power plant by addition of 1×660 MW Imported Coal Based thermal power plant Toranagallu village in Sandur taluk, in Bellary District , in Karnataka. Land requirement will be 89.19 acres, which is owned by the company. Imported coal requirements will be 2.25 MTPA. Area requirement for ash/pond dyke will be 8.0 acres. Water requirement will be 32,000 m3/day, which will be met from its allocation for the Steel Plant.
