Paratu Energy Ltd, a special purpose vehicle of Jharkhand State Electricity Board is planning to set up 2x660 MW coal based power project in Paratu in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand. Land required of about 1050 acres for the project is in possession of the SEB. Water requirement is likely to be met from Nalkari Dam. Coal is likely to be supplied from Banhardih Coal block.
Shree Renuka Energy is planning to set up 1050 MW (3 x 350 MW) coal based thermal power project in Vantamuri/Huteri villages in Bellary district of Karnataka. The company has applied for coal linkage where the requirement is estimated at 5.43 mtpa. Water requirement is likely to be met from Ghatprabha river. The project is likely to go operational in March 2014.

Cosmic Urja Ltd, a group company for Cosmic Ferro Alloys is planning to set up a 2x40 MW coal based thermal project in Mouza Dhunabaru in Chandil in Saraikela district of Jharkhand. The project will use domestic coal which is estimated at 4.8 mtpa. Land requirement for the project is around 30 acres which is waste land. It will use air cooled condensers and will deploy CFBC boilers. Water requirement is likely to be met from Subernekha river which is 10.0 km away from the project site. The project has received environmental clearance in July 2011.
