Amrit- Bio group is entering into a project of Methane Capturing” in joint collaboration with W.B. Green Power Corporation and M/s Terra Consultant of U.K. under equity partnership. For the project 650 hectares of land has already been identified by HIDCO.This is one kind of ‘Landfill Engineering Project’ where methane will be generated below the landmass on the deposit of municipality Solid Waste (MSW). These Projects will also entail release of carbon credit for the Company on the basis of the quantity of methane captured. ABEIL’s power plant commenced commercial operations in November 2010. The company is setting up a 10-megawatt (MW) power plant in Morigaon (Assam). It has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Assam State Electricity Board has a tenure of 10 years, at a rate of Rs. 4.7 per unit. Amrit Bio Energy & Industries Ltd is planning to set up a 2.0 MW biomass power project in Sagar Island in South 24 Paragnas district of West Bengal with an investment of Rs. 100 million. AES Corporation is the co- promoter for the project and the project was announced in October 2006 and land was acquired in May 2008. The company is awaiting to receive approval from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Power Ministry.
