Gujarat State Energy Generation Gas Based Combined Cycle Power Project Expansion (2x350 MW) at Mora in Hazira in Surat district of Gujarat. The project also involves setting up of  700 MW (2x350 MW) thermal power plant as an expansion project to be set up in 2 phases in the same area where 156.1 MW unit is already operating. The proposed expansion would consist of 2 gas turbines and 2 heat recovery steam generators. The first phase is estimated to be completed by December 2009, the second phase by December, 2011. The total land requirement for the project including existing unit is 45 ha out of this 29 ha is already available and the remaining 16 ha would be procured from GIDC. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 22370 million.

Essar Power to set up 25 MW Waste Heat Recovery based Power Plant at Hazira

Essar Power to set up 25 MW Waste Heat Recovery based Power Plant at Hazira in Surat district of Gujarat. The project will use the waste heat from the flue gases of the existing Hot Briquette Iron (HBI) Plant. The HBI plant will be fitted with appropriate energy recovery technology. The proposed project will be located within the existing HBI plant premises. The land requirement is 4000 sq.m. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 750 million.

Saurashtra Cements to set up 40 MW Pet Coke and Coal based CPP at village Ranavav in Porbander district of Gujarat. The land requirement is 3.642 ha which is available within the existing premises. Coal / pet coke will be used as fuel. Water requirement is estimated as 5856 m3/day, which will be obtained from mine water. CFBC boilers with lime injection to absorb 90% sulphur will be used and pet coke having sulphur content of upto 7.5% will be obtained from Jamnagar. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 1900 million. It may be noted, Barda Hill Sanctuary is reported at a distance of 1.5 km and Jambuvanti caves at a distance of about 1 km.
