Delhi Mumbai Industrial Development Corp plans 1000 MW gas based project in Vadinar

Delhi Mumbai Indl. Corridor Development Corporation is planning to set up a 1000 MW gas based power project in Vadinar in Mehesana district of Gujarat with an investment of Rs. 35,000 million. The project is likely to go operational in December 2014. The total gas requirement is five lakh cubic metres per day. The project was announced in May 2010. Construction will start by December 2011. The project was originally mooted by GSECL and now DMICDC is to implement the project.

DMIC in Gujarat, had already approved Vaghel village in Patan's Sami taluka as the site for one of the plants. The agency has finalised Rajpur and Shahpur villages in Vadnagar taluka of Mehsana for the second power plant.

The two power projects, having installed power generation capacity of 1,000 MW each, will require an investment of around Rs8,000 crore.

DMICDC was also considering Vadodara district for setting up the second power plant, but has finalised Vadnagar for the project. It may be worth mentioning that Vadnagar is the native place of Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

The Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL), an undertaking of the state government, also said that Sami and Vadnagar had been selected as the sites for the two 1,000 MW power projects. According to the information in the annual report for the year 2009-10, GPCL has identified around 132 hectare of government waste land at Vaghel village for the first project.

Essar Energy commissions 510 MW thermal project in Vadinar

Essar Energy had set up 2x255 MW coal based thermal power project in Vadinar in Jamnagar district of Gujarat. The first unit of 255 MW had gone operational in June 2012, while the second unit will be synchronized in July 2012. The power generated will be sold to Essar Refinery, Essar Steel and into the merchant market

Kutchh Power Generation Co plans 3300 MW in Bhadreshwar

Kutchh Power Generation Co (a subsidiary of Adani Power ) is planning to set up 5x660 MW coal based thermal power project in Bhadreshwar in Kutch district of Gujarat. The company has invited tenders under international competitive bidding in November 2011 for selection of BTG supplier and for awarding of BoP package.
