East Coast Energy to set up 2640 MW Bhavanapadu Thermal Power Project


East Coast Energy to set up 2640 MW Bhavanapadu Thermal Power Project located near Kakrapalli Village in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. The project will be implemented in two phases with super critical technology. The project will   use blended coal, Indian: Imported in the ratio of 70:30   for the first phase of 1320MW of the project.     For phase - II of the project-imported coal will be used. Imported coal requirement for both the phases will be   5.838 MTPA.  Indigenous washed coal requirement will be 4.34 MTPA. Imported coal will be transported by sea to the dedicated Jetty at Meghavaram village and indigenous washed coal will be transported through railway to the project. Total cost of the project is Rs. 110750 million.

GVK commissions its 220 MW thermal project

GVK Power & Infrastructure has commissioned its 220 MW thermal project, its phase II of at Jegrapadu village at Kadiyam Mandal in East Godavari district. The project which achieved financial closure in Dec 2003 has been delayed due to various bottleneck. The EPC work for the project has been handled by Alstom and has high level of indigenously sourced equipment. These include heat recovery steam generator, condenser, electrical transformer panels.

APGENCO to commission 500 MW unit at Viajayawada Thermal Power station

APGENCO is all set to commission its 500 MW thermal unit at its Vijayawada TPS by May 2009. The plant was set up with investment of Rs.21000 million with financial assistance from Rural Electrification Corp and consortium of other Indian banks. This unit does not use super critical technology. BHEL and BGR were the vendors for the project and coal linkage is from Mahanadi Coal fields and water from the near Krishna river. It may be noted, APGENCO is also planning to set up coal gasification combined gas cycle project, a first-of-kind in the country.
