APGENCO plans 21 power projects with investment of Rs.80000 crore

Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (Genco) has intiated a plan of setting up 21 power plants over the period of next five years. The projects, having a combined capacity of 15,900 Mw, involve an investment of Rs 80,000 crore. Of the 21 power projects, 11 are in various stages of execution. The ongoing projects, estimated to cost Rs 25,000 crore, will have a total generating capacity of 4,363 Mw. These include the Rs 8,500-crore 1,600 Mw Krishnapatnam power plant and 1,100 Mw Kakatiya thermal power plant to be executed in two stages. The new projects include the Rs 6,000-crore 2100 Mw gas-based power plant in Karimnagar, Rs 16,500-crore 4,000 Mw ultra mega power project at Vodarevu and Rs 4,500 crore 900 Mw hydel power plant at Polavaram.

GVK Industries to set up 240 MW thermal power project at Jeugurupadu

GVK Industries to set up 240 MW thermal power project at Jeugurupadu in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The land requirement is estimated as 8 acres, which already available. No additional land is to be acquired. Natural gas will be used as fuel, which will be obtained from Krishna Godavari basin. Gas requirement is estimated as 1.1 MMSCMD. The water requirement is proposed expansion is 7200 m3/day, which will be obtained from Godavari river. The Phase II expansion of the Jegurupadu CCPP was completed with clockwork precision. Implemented at a cost of Rs. 7,780 million, Jegurupadu CCPP Phase II has been commissioned to generate an additional 244 MW of power. With the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed with AP Transco, Jergurupadu CCOO’s plants’ total installed capacity amounts to 479 MW of power for the state. The plant is currently running at full capacity.

East Coast Energy to set up 2600 MW Natural Gas based Combined Cycle Power Project near Visakhapatnam

East Coast Energy to set up 2640 MW Bhavanapadu Thermal Power Project located near Kakrapalli Village in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. The project will be implemented in two phases with super critical technology. The project will use blended coal, Indian: Imported in the ratio of 70:30 for the first phase of 1320MW of the project. For phase - II of the project- imported coal will be used. Imported coal requirement for both the phases will be 5.838 MTPA. Indigenous washed coal requirement will be 4.34 MTPA. Imported coal will be transported by sea to the dedicated Jetty at Meghavaram village and indigenous washed coal will be transported through railway to the project. Total cost of the project is Rs. 110750 million.

Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has transferred the title of Land (2050Acres) to ECEPL. EPC contract: Contract Agreement for Boiler – Turbine - Generator (BTG) Supply has been signed with Dongfang Electric Company (DEC), Republic of China. Coal Linkage for 70% of the coal consumption for stage-1 (2x660 MW) has been allocated from Mahanadi Coal Fields Limited, Orissa. Letter of Assurance (LOA) issued by MCL. ECEPL has signed Fuel Supply Agreement for supply of imported coal with Global Fuels Pte. Ltd. for 30% of the fuel required. GoI, MoC has stipulated that coastal based plants need to source 30% fuel from outside the country. All mandatory clearances from statutory bodies have been obtained.

Preparation of Detailed Project Report for Captive Jetty & Transportation and Investigation Studies like Bathymetric & Sub-bottom profile survey, Geo-Technical Investigations, Hydrodynamic studies and Vessel Mooring & Manoeuvring Study are completed. Long Term Power Purchase Agreement has been signed with PTC India Limited for off take of power. Long term Open Access has been applied for and the CTU (PGCIL) has commenced related system strengthening studies. PGCIL has included the project in southern region studies and revised load flow studies are being made.

PROJECT CONSULTANTS Energy Infratech Private Limited (EIPL) (EIPL) is the Owner’s Engineer for the project. EIPL’s thermal power division is based at Hyderabad with a thermal power portfolio of around 5,000 MW currently under development. B. S. Envi-tech Private Limited is the environment consultant for preparation of Environment Impact Assessment/ Environment Management Plan and assisted the company in obtaining the Environment Clearance from the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India. Indomer Coastal Hydraulics Private Limited has carried out the Marine Impact Assessment Studies. National Institute of Oceanography has undertaken studies for HTL, LTL and CRZ demarcation. Aarvee Associates Private Limited is helping in getting approvals from Railways for coal logistics. Beckett Rankine has prepared the Detailed Project Report for construction of Captive Jetty and Transportation near the project site.

Latest News
