APGENCO is planning to set up 2400 MW in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. The company is to take up this project in joint venture with Power Trading Corp. Around 2000 acres of land is identified near Palasa. District Collector, Srikakulam has been addressed to earmark the site. Coal requirement of 13 million tonnes per annum is likely to be met from Nuagoan & Telisahi coal blocks in Angul District, Orissa. Tenders for preparation of DPR are under finalisation.

APGENCO plans 1600 MW Vadarevu (Kanuparthy) stage I thermal project in Vadarevu in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh. The company has obtained state government approval and signed an MoU with Power Finance Corp for funding. The draft DPR and tender specifications are ready. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 85,070 million will have a debt equity ratio of 80:20. The project is yet to get statutory environmental clearance and fuel linkage. Tata Consulting Engineers have been appointed as consultant for the project. The project is likely to be ramped to 5x800 MW as a ultra mega power project with the project cost estimated at Rs. 1,98,040 million.

APGENCO plans Unit 6 in Rayalaseema TPP in Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh. It will have a capacity of 600 MW and will be based on coal. Additional land of 529 acres had been identified and draft notification has been issued and the requisite amount had been deposited with revenue authorities. Environmental clearance has been applied for and is awaited. Ministry of Coal has allocated 2.31 mtpa long term coal linkages from MCL for 500 MW Unit. MoC has been requested for additional quantity of 1.2 mtpa required for 600 MW.
