West Bengal Power Development Corp Ltd(WBPDCL) to set up 2x600 MW phase II Thermal Power Project at Sagardighi in Murshidabad district of West Bengal. The project involves setting up of addition of two units of 500 MW each as extension of the existing power station at Sagardighi, District Murshidabad where two units of 300 MW each is under construction. The plant will be based on coal as fuel. The total land available with the company is 330 ha. The land requirement for the proposed plant is 40 ha. The other common infrastructure facility from the earlier units, which are under construction, will be used for this project. No additional land would be required. Water will be obtained from Bhagirathi river. The estimated water requirement is 4000 m3/hr for the proposed expansion, which will be met from the existing allocation.
