Ind Barath Power Energy (Madras) Ltd is implementing a coal based thermal project in Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu . The project involves setting up a 660 MW units pulverised coal fired reheat type boilers which is to be supplied by Harbine Turbine and Cethar Vessels. Coal requirement is estimated at 3.79 mtpa. The project sill use air cooled condenser. Around 460 acres of land have been acquired for the project. The project is expected to go operational in December 2013.
Indian Power Projects Ltd is setting up a 5×453 MW Imported LNG Based Combined Cycle Power Plant at Pannamparai villages in Sattankulam Taluk, in Tutucorin district in Tamil Nadu. Land requirement identified is a private revenue land. LNG Terminal will be about 20 Kms away from the site. Fuel requirements will be 2.16 MTPA natural gas, which will be Imported as LNG. Water requirement will be 11,200 m3/h, which will be sourced from Bay of Bengal through a pipeline at a distance of 20 km from the project site. Contact : Indian Power Projects Ltd
The project has yet to receive statutory clearances.
Perambalur Sugar Mills is planning to set up a 18 MW cogeneration power plant in Eraiyur village in Veppanthattai Taluk in Perambalur district of Tamil Nadu. Land required for the project is 20.61 acres and water requirement is around 580 cu.mets which will be met from Vellar river. Fuel requirement will be 860 tpd of bagasse and 702 tpd of biomass or 526 tpd of coal during off season. The project cost is estimated at Rs.. 1024 million.
The project is likely to go operational in June 2012.
