Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd is implementing the 2x660 MW Chabra stage V & VI project in Rajasthan. It will be a coal based project. Tata Consulting Engineers have been retained as consultant for the project.
Final REIA & socio-economic studies reports received from BHEL PCRI.The project is yet to get environmental clearance. BHEL has been awarded the BTG contract but has been cancelled in April 2012. BGR Energy has emerged as second lowest bidder now.
Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nagam is planning to expand its Dholpur plant by additon of 3x110 MW gas based power project in Purani, Chawani villages in Dholpur district in Rajasthan. Land requirement will be approx. 20 ha. Out of which 0.708 ha is revenue land; 0.809 ha is double crop agriculture land; 0.442 ha is single crop agricultural land; 4.704 ha is waste land; 3.932 ha is others land and 8.83 ha is industrial land. Gas requirements will be 1.60 MMSCMD, which will be obtained from GAIL. Water requirement will be 8.76 MCM, which will be sourced from Chambal river through a pipeline at a distance of 8.25 km from the project site.

Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd is setting up a 160 MW (Stage IV) gas based thermal project in Ramgarh in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. The project will have a capacity of 160 MW, which will be installed at an outlay of Rs..480 crore. It was announced in December 2009. A Letter of Intent (LoI) was received in March 2010. SPML Infra Ltd. Was also appointed as the contractor for the project in the same month. It will be located at Ramgarh in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. The project is likely to go operational in March 2016.
BHEL has been awarded the work order. RRVUNL has invited bids in April 2012 for selecting EPC contractor for Balance of Plant works. In June 2012, the company has awarded the contract to BHEL for an amount of Rs. 3800 million.
