Orissa Power Projects

Visa Steel is setting up a captive power plant at Kalinganagar at Duburi in Orissa

Visa Steel Ltd which is setting up a iron and steel plant at Kalinganagar in Duburi in Orissa is planning a captive power plant using heat generated by the steel making process. The power plant will consists of a circulating fluidized bed combustion (CFBC) boiler and this will be coupled to 3 x 25 MW steam turbines of impulse reaction and straight condensing to use regenerated heat.

Konaseema Power commences power generation at Ravupalem


Konaseema Power, a venture of VBC Group has commissioned its combined cycle power plant at Ravupalem. It will generate 100 MW out of its installed capacity of 450 MW with natural gas supply restrictions. With its nearby Reliance KG basin commencing production, the plant may achieve full capacity. The plant was put up by L&T, gas turbines from Siemens, steam turbines from LMZ Energy, Russia with an investment of Rs. 20350 million.

Orissa government signs MoUs for 9780 MW power projects


Orissa Chief Minister, Mr. Naveen Patnaik has overseen the signing of MoUs with eight independent power producers Astharanga Power Co Ltd, Visaka Thermal Power Ltd, Kalinga Energy, Ind-Bharath Energy (Utkal) Ltd,  Aarti Steel, Sahara India Power Corporation Ltd, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd and Chambal Infrastructures and Ventures Ltd. These eight companies will invest around Rs.420230 million to produce 9780 MW power in the state. The total investment made by IPP’s in the state now is Rs. 1120000 million and the total power capacity addition in the state now will be 27035 MW.
