Bhushan Energy Ltd to set up 300 MW thermal power project at Meramandali in Dhenkanal district of Orissa. CFBC boilers will be installed. Coal middlings from the washery and char from steel plant will be used as fuel. The fuel requirement is estimated as 2.97 million TPA. Land requirement is 296.8 acres, which is available. Water requirement is 1375 m3/hr and will be drawn from Brahmani river. Lingra Jhor is passing close to the site.

NTPC to set up 3200 MW (4 x 800 MW ) thermal power project between villages Manipur and Kundanalli in Uspal Tehsil in Dhenkanal District in Orissa. The land requirement is 3000 acres. Super critical technology will be adopted. Coal will be obtained from Talcher Coalfield. Water requirement will be met from Mundalli Barrage on Mahanadi river.
