Lanco Group to set up 2640 MW (4x660 MW) Lanco Thermal Power Project in Khurunti in Dhenkanal district of Orissa. The land requirement is 859 ha. Water requirement is 8,000 m3/hr, which will be obtained from Brahamani river at a distance of 1 km. Coal requirement is 13 million TPA, which will be obtained from Talchar and Rampiya Coal Mines.

Sterlite Energy Ltd to expand Banjari thermal project by adding 2000 MW to its planned 2400 MW units. The proposal is for setting up of 2000 MW (2x1000 MW or 3x660 MW) thermal power plant as an expansion of 2400 MW power plant. The land requirement is estimated as 685 acres. Coal will be obtained from Mahanadi Coalfield and its requirement estimated as 32822 TPD. Water requirement is estimated as 4580 m3/hr, which will be obtained from Mahanadi Basin.

Balasore Alloys Ltd to set up 2x67.5 MW Captive Power Plant at Balgopalpur in Balasore district of Orissa. The land requirement is 220 ha. Coal requirement is 0.86 million TPA, which will be obtained from Talcher Coalfields. Water requirement is 930 m3/hr, which will be obtained from Budhabalang river. Closed circuit cooling system with cooling towers will be provided.
