Karnataka signs agreement with NTPC and BHEL for 6900 MW power projects


Karnataka government has signed agreements with thermal and wind energy projects of 6900 MW capacity in the state in the next four years. NTPC  will set up a 4000 MW power project with supercritical technology,  at an investment of Rs. 225000 million in Kuldagi (about 18kms from Almatti dam in Bijapur district of Karnataka. Karnataka Power Corporation has signed the deal on behalf of the state. Another 2400 MW is to be set up as a joint-venture between KPC, BHEL and IDFC as a likely private partner.
