Karnataka government brings reforms for power projects

Karnataka government has brought an amendment in the Land Reforms Act to enable power project promoters to acquire revenue and agricultural land for renewable energy projects. It has simplified procedures and has also set up a high powered committee to get speedy environmental clearance from MoEF. Further, it has also accorded industry status to renewable energy sector and can go through single window clearance as well as get land from KIADB.

KPCL to consider 600 MW super critical thermal plant at Raichur

KPCL Raichur plant has completed 25 years and is facing frequent shutdowns. It is generating 230 MW at far below its capacity of 430 MW. Now, to renovate them would need an investment of Rs. 4000 million. KPCL has asked BHEL to study the power plant and it has suggested a 600 MW with clean super critical technology with an investment of Rs. 30000 million. KPCL is considering both the options

Karnataka Power Corporation to set up 1200 MW thermal project at Yermarus

Karnataka Power Corporation to set up 1200 MW thermal project at Yermarus in Vadaloor in Raichur district of Karnataka. The land requirement is 352 ha. Coal requirement is estimated as 15480 TPD. Water requirement is 120.96 MLD, which will be met from Krishna river.
