Damodar Valley Corporation is planning to set up a 500 MW dual fuel based power project in Bokaro in Jharkhand with an investment of Rs. 23130 million. The project is likely to go operational in May 2012. The project was announced in December 2001 and received an environmental clearance in March 2007 and BHEL had been awarded the EPC contract in 2008. It will replace the old 247 MW unit.
Fuel linkage had been signed with Central Coalfields Ltd. Financial closure has been achieved with SBI and its associate banls. It is likely to be commissioned in financial year 2014. The company had signed a PPA with PSEB for supply of 200 MW of power and the rest will be consumed in Jharkhand.
Kohinoor Power Pvt. Ltd. is setting up a 66 MW Coal, Middlings & Dolachar based thermal power plant in Kuchidih villages in Saraikela Kharsawan in Jharkhand. Water requirement will be 6.84 MLD, which will be obtained from Swarnarekha River at 500 m from the site. Char from operating Steel Plant of capacity 400 TPD of the company will be used.
The company has awarded the EPC contract to Techpro Systems for Rs. 2080 million.
SAIL is planning to set up a 1000 MW thermal power plant in Sindri near Dhanbad in Jharkhand. The company is planning to float a special purpose vehicle to implement the project. The project also involves setting up a 5.6 million tpa steel plant and an 1.15 million tpa urea plant. The total investment envisaged is around Rs.. 3,50,000 million.
