Wardha Power Co to set up 6x600 MW Coal based Power Project at Akaltara in Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh. The project is to be implemented in two phases of 1800 MW each. The plant is proposed to be based on sub critical technology. The land requirement is 830 ha. Coal requirement is 14 million TPA, which will be obtained from Morga Coal Block in Korba District at a distance of about 120 km. Water requirement is 10630 m3/hr, which will be obtained from river Mahanadi. Coal will be transported by rail.
