Karnataka Power Corpn. Ltd is setting up a 1600 MW coal based thermal power project in phases in Godhna village in Jangir Champa district of Chhattisgarh. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 90,000 million. The project is likely to go operational in March 2015.The company is awaiting for the environmental clearance and the works will start soon after getting the environmental clearance. The project will have two units of 800 MW each. The Government of Chhattisgarh had already commenced the process of acquisition of land for the project by issuing preliminary notification. The KPCL has deposited Rs.160 crore with the Chhattisgarh government towards land acquisition. The company has already signed an agreement with Larsen & Toubro for implementing the project. The project was announced in July 2008 with the capacity of 2,000 MW. But later on, its capacity was revised to 1,200 MW (2x600 MW). In March 2010, the capacity was raised to 1,600 MW (2X800 MW). The company had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board (CSEB) in September 2008 for the proposed project. Land was acquired in September 2009. This will be the first pit-head plant to be installed by the company outside
The project is awaiting coal linkage, which is proving as a bottleneck after which environment clearance will be obtained. In the meanwhile it has awarded the project to L&T to develop the project.
Sarda Energy Ltd is planning to set up a 1320 MW coal based thermal power project in Godhi village in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh. The company has signed an MoU with the state government for the project.
Around 350 acres of land has been acquired out of 1050 acres. Fuel linkage applied with Ministry of Coal Environmental clearance yet to be obtained 35 MCM of water alloted by Water Resources Dept of Chhattisgarh. EPC is expected to be awarded during 2012. The project is scheduled to be commissioned during 2016.
Shri Lakshmi Power is planning to set up a 300 MW (360 MW) coal based thermal power project in Biktuli and Pasid villages in Bhatpara Taluk in Raiput district of Chhattisgarh. The company has invited bids in April 2011 to award BTG package. Commissioning is scheduled for June 2013. Fitchner Consulting have been appointed as consultant for the project.
The project has not received environmental clearance, land and fuel not tied up.
