Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam to set up 2x250 MW Thermal Power Project, Stage-II at village Kanti in Muzafarpur district of Bihar. Two units of 110 MW each are existing at the site which were reported to have stopped functioning since 2003. Out of these two units one unit has been revived in 2008 and is operating at the rated capacity of 60 MW. The project is planned to be accommodated within the existing premises, however, 400 acres of land will be acquired for ash disposal area. Coal requirement is 2.9 million TPA, which will be obtained from ECL. Water requirement is estimated as 30 cusecs and will be obtained from Burhi Gandak river.
