Thermal Powertech Corporation to set up 1980 MW at Painapuram

Thermal Powertech plans 4th 660 MW unit in Painnapuram

Thermal Powertech is planning to expand its Painapuram unit by addition of 1×660 MW Coal Based thermal power plant at Painnampuram, & Nelaturu villages in Muthukur Mandal, in Nellore District , in Andhra Pradesh. No additional land will be required for the expansion. Beneficiated Indian and imported coal will be used in the ratio of 70:30. Imported coal will be transported from Krishnapatnam Port by conveyor belt. The blended coal will have about 26 % Ash content and Sulphur content of about 0.59 %. Sea water from the Bay of Bengal will be used for operation of the plant. Total Coal required will be 9.2 MTPA. Ash pond area will be 210 Acres. Buckingham Canal is at a distance of 100 m in the western side of the plant boundary. A creek is located 150 m away from the boundary of the plant in the southern side. Desalination plant will be installed.
