Coastal Sirohi Power is planning to set up a 1320 MW coal based thermal project in VANPIC project area in Devarampadu village in Ongole Taluk in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh. The project will use imported coal and will be based on super critical technology. The company has appointed Fitchner Consulting Engineers to prepared DPR and L&T Ramboll to carry out the EIA study. Land requirement will be 750 acres, out of which 747.9 acres is assigned land and 2.1 acres is Govt. land. Coal requirements will be 4.6 MTPA. Coal will be imported from Indonesia. Water requirement will be about 274 MLD, which will be sourced from the Gundlakamma River and Bay of Bengal through a pipeline at a distance of 1.5 km and 3.5km respectively from project site.
The project is in planning stage and has achieved environmental clearance.
Elgen India, Prathima Group is planning to set up a 2×350 MW Gas Based Combied Cycle Power Plant at village Guggilla, in Bejjanki-Mandal Taluk, in Karimnagar district in Andhra Pradesh. Gas requirement will be 0.82 mmtpa and the project will house a GT and HRSG. Tata Consulting Engineers have been retained as consultant for the project.

GMT group is planning to expand its Kakinada plant by addition of 1×300 MW(Phase-II) Barge Mounted Gas Based Combined Cycle Power Plant at village Kakinada Port Area, in Kakinada Taluk, in East Godavari District , in Andhra Pradesh. Land requirement will be 20 Acres, for facilities such as cooling tower, switch yard etc. Natural gas requirement will be 1.6 MMSCMD, which will be sourced from Krishna-Godavari Basin. Water requirement will be 19200 cusecs/day, which will be sourced from Bay of Bengal through a pipeline.
