APGENCO to set up 1 x 210 MW Rayalaseema Thermal Power Project Stage II in Reddy Nagar in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. Coal requirement will be 1.06 MTPA and will be sourced from MCL mines and water for the project will be drawn from Mylavaram reservoir. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 9962 million.
Meenakshi Energy to set up at 540 MW (4x135MW) Coal based Power Project at Thamminapatnam in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. The project will be implemented in two phases of 270 MW each. The project will be based on CFBC technology with lime injection having efficiency of sulphur quenching up to 95%. Imported coal requirement will be 7184 TPD. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 26665 million.
The Rs 1,204 crore phase II debt component of the 1,920 MW thermal plant being developed in three phases at Tamminapatnam and Mommidi villages is being funded by a 13-bank consortium led by State Bank of India. While the phase one of 300 mw is under execution currently, the phase II of 300 mw will be commissioned by August 2012. The third phase of the project of 1320 mw (2x660mw) will be taken up simultaneously. All mandatory clearances for the entire project have been secured by the company. According to a statement from the company management, substantial portion of the coal required for the 1920 mw thermal plant shall be sourced from the coal mine of PT Madhucon Indonesia, a subsidiary of Madhucon. It has an operating coal mine of 10,000 hectares in Indonesia with estimated mining reserves of 900 million tonnes. The company has extended the EPC tender date to December 2011
