NTPC plans 4000 MW thermal project at Anakapalle and the company has signed an MoU with the state government. The State Government gave its in-principle approval for the NTPC proposal in November 2010. and has identified land at Pudimadaka near Anakapalle and it will also assist the company in getting statutory clearances. According to the MoU, the state government will be allocated half of the 4,000 MW generated at the plant. The company expects to use sea water for the project as the project site is close to sea.
The project is likely to be taken up in XIIth plan. The feasibility study for the project is on.
Pragdisa Power, a subsidiary of Lanco Group is setting up a 1320 MW coal based power project in Momidi village in Chillakur Mandal in SPS Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. It will have two units of 2 x 660 MW based on supercritical technology. The project will meet 70% of its coal requirement from domestic supplies and the rest to use imported coal. The company has invited tenders in August 2010 for the project.
Rajanagaram Gas Power Pvt Ltd, belonging to Madhucon group is planning to set up a 1000 MW combined cycle power plant in Mukkinada village in Rajanagaram Mandal in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The company has appointed Fitchner Consulting for owner's engineering services. The company is also planning a 1200 MW gas based power project in West Godavari district for which it has applied for statutory clearances.
